About 20 years ago I was looking for a hobby that would hold my interest and keep me occupied. I saw a coloured glass course advertised and decided to give it a go, 20 years on I know I chose the right thing, it still holds my interest.

There are a variety of methods of making objects from glass, I use a method that was pioneered in New York at the end of the 19th to the start of 20th century by Louis Comfort Tiffany. The glass is cut into shapes and then the edges are wrapped with foil sticky tape. The pieces are then placed together and lead solder is applied to the foil, this hardens as it cools down holding the pieces together.

Glass comes in such a variety of colours and textures as well as being transparent and opaque, when it catches the light it comes alive, what looks like a single colour multiplies into many shades, as well as the movement of the colours in the glass, the rainbows it casts are full of light and movement.
